Meridia

Meridia (sibutramine) is a drug used for the treatment of obesity that might have been caused by diabetes, high blood pressure of high cholesterol, and is very efficient in helping you achieve consistent weight loss. When you first start taking this medication, you may experience some of the following side effects that are considered to be mild and are not supposed to be treated in some special way: mild skin rash, dry mouth, loss of appetite, runny or stuffy nose, back pain, headache, constipation, upset stomach, and trouble sleeping. These symptoms are most common ones, but some other ones are also possible and can be quite individual. Since Meridia can cause sleepiness, you are not supposed to be taking it with other drugs that can also make you sleepy, as they can add to the effects and make it impossible for you to do certain things you have to do on the daily basis. The following drugs can add to the sleepiness Meridia causes: sedatives, medicine for seizures, muscle relaxants, cold or allergy medicine, sleeping pills, and narcotic pain medicine. You can take them if your health care provider thinks it’s okay, but your dose may be modified insignificantly to decrease the probability of developing some side effects that can be avoided.
